Hardcase 'Cold Case' Refrigerated Containers - Reefer

Single Phase chillers

Our single phase, 20 ft (6 meter) refrigerated container operates as a cool storage/chiller room and is fully lined with “food grade” stainless steel. It achieves below zero temperature but is not cold enough to pull down room-temperature product to be frozen. It is only capable of operating as a fridge (not as a freezer).

Chiller containers are ideal for food storage at zero degrees. This most suits superettes, takeaway bars, bakeries, restaurants, lunchbars, butchers, green grocers and many food-related businesses.

The refrigeration system is integrated into the back wall of the container, as in the image below. The client will need to have a reliable 240V x 16Amp exterior power socket and is responsible for providing the power supply, socket, and associated safety accessories (extension lead).

3 phase Freezers available

Our three phase, 20 ft refrigerated container operates as a freezer, achieving temperatures as low as -20degrees.

These ‘Cold Case’ freezer reefers suit food manufacturing businesses, and seriously frozen storage for restaurants and supermarkets.

With 3 phase, a 440V x 32amp power supply is required for pulling down product from room temperature to frozen. The client is responsible for the power supply and socket, and associated safety accessories (extension lead).

When the refrigerated container is first turned on, it will draw its maximum power (4.5 kWh) to reach the temperature set on the thermostat. This usually takes 1.5 hours. After that, it will turn on only when required to maintain the set temperature (using a small amount of power each time).

Transport available throughout North Island

Hardcase ‘Cold Case’ freezer and chiller containers are able to be transported throughout the North Island. We are based in West Auckland, Henderson specifically, but also cover Massey, New Lynn, Westgate, Point Chev, Avondale, and Hobsonville . We also have limited facility to store operating ‘Cold Case’ refrigerated reefers at our depot in Henderson with client access Monday to Friday 7.30am to 5.00pm.

We currently have 20ft single phase and 3 phase reefer containers available. We have no 10ft, 40ft or 40ft high cube reefers yet, but they are planned for the near future.

Freezer limitations

Chillers and freezers are dependant on recirculating air through a refrigeration plant and back. If the ventilation channels are obstructed, then the cooling performance will fail and product may spoil. The manner of stacking product and leaving air space will determine the performance of the freezer and chiller units.

CLIENT LOG BOOK: The client is required to log internal temperature and coolant pressure twice each day. The log entry requires the temperature and pressure to be recorded, dated and timed, then signed by the inspector. If there are changes outside of the safe margin, please contact us. Responsibility will always remain with the client.

BREAK DOWN SERVICE: All containers undergo an electrical inspection prior to being delivered to customers for operational use. However, in the event of a breakdown or power outage our refrigerated containers are covered by a 24/7 call out repair service, within metropolitan areas. Time will be critical. Please contact us immediately.

Hardcase has available steel racking with steel mesh shelves that enable the frigid air to freeze or chill shelved product. Please inquire to include these in your hire.

Some reefer containers have lighting, and some don’t. The 3phase reefer freezers have no lighting. Your lighting needs may be able to be personalised to your reefer under some conditions.

Chillers and freezers function by recirculating air through a refrigeration plant and back, cooling that recirculating air constantly. If the ventilation channels are obstructed, then the cooling performance will fail and chilled/frozen product may spoil. The manner of stacking product and leaving air space will determine the performance of the freezer and chiller units.

Transport destinations

All our reefer containers, whether chillers or freezers, can be transported anywhere across the North Island. Transport costs vary depending on location. Hardcase can also shift a loaded reefer to another destination.
